Negeri Sembilan Discontinues Free Bus Service Due to High Costs

29th August 2024 – The Negeri Sembilan state government has announced the cessation of its free bus service, which had been in operation since 2021.
Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun stated that the decision was made due to the substantial financial burden it placed on the state’s budget. Despite the discontinuation, the state remains committed to assisting the public with transportation needs, focusing on alternative ways to support vulnerable groups such as students and senior citizens.
The government is exploring new strategies to provide affordable transportation options without overextending state resources, as stated in Free Malaysia Today.
