Nisa & Amy, Two Sisters Feed Stray Dogs in Klang

By Subaashinee Kupusamy,

25th October: Nisa and Amy, two sisters from Klang, have dedicated themselves to feeding stray dogs since the pandemic hit in 2020. Faced with the growing number of hungry animals, the sisters began preparing homemade meals, spending about RM70 weekly on food such as turmeric rice and dog kibble. While working as clerks by day, their evenings are reserved for feeding over 40 dogs across different areas in Klang.

Despite some backlash from critics who argue that their efforts conflict with religious norms, Nisa and Amy remain steadfast. They believe that kindness should transcend religious and cultural boundaries, driven by compassion for the stray animals that roam the streets. This perspective has earned them support from some in their community, who admire their commitment and empathy.

Although challenging, their work is more than a routine; it is a labour of love. The sisters actively seek to educate people about the importance of caring for stray animals, hoping to reduce the stigma often associated with them. They view every stray dog as a life deserving of care, regardless of public perception.

Their story highlights not only their dedication but also the broader issue of stray dogs in Malaysia, where animal welfare is often overlooked. By raising awareness, Nisa and Amy hope to inspire others to take small steps toward a kinder, more compassionate society.

Their mission, rooted in empathy and a strong sense of responsibility, reminds us that even small acts of kindness can make a significant impact on the lives of animals in need as stated in Astro Ulagam.
