OpenAI Unleashes ChatGPT Go in Malaysia, Boosting AI Accessibility

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 October 2025: OpenAI has officially launched ChatGPT Go in Malaysia, a new, lower-cost subscription tier aimed at democratizing access to its advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities for everyday users.

Malaysia is one of 16 countries in Asia where the plan debuted, strategically capitalizing on the nation’s soaring interest in AI. The move comes as the number of weekly active ChatGPT users in Malaysia has expanded by more than 2.5 times over the past year, reflecting strong local enthusiasm for digital skills adoption ahead of the upcoming Budget 2026 announcement.

New Plan Details and Features

Priced at RM38.99 per month (inclusive of SST), the ChatGPT Go plan is positioned between the free tier and the more expensive Plus (RM99.90/month) and Pro (RM999.90/month) options. Subscribers gain enhanced access to OpenAI’s most advanced model, GPT-5, with key feature boosts over the free tier:

  • 10x Increase: Users receive a tenfold increase in message limits, image generation, and file/image uploads per day.
  • Doubled Memory: Memory capacity is doubled, enabling more personalized and coherent conversational responses across longer threads.
  • Purpose: The plan is specifically tailored for common daily needs, including personal writing, tutoring, self-care guidance, and editing.

Nick Turley, Vice-President and Head of ChatGPT, noted that the launch directly supports Malaysia’s vision for tech-driven growth by making advanced AI affordable for a wider population. The rollout also follows a highly successful launch in India, where the number of paid subscribers more than doubled within a month.

Users can sign up for ChatGPT Go by visiting the official website or through the ChatGPT mobile app, selecting the upgrade option in their account settings.
