SUNGAI SIPUT, 18 August: The body of 10-year-old Nuraina Humaira Rosli, who had been missing overnight, was found in a swamp near Kampung Bersah, Pos Kuala Mu. The Orang Asli child, a Year 4 student at SK Pos Kuala Mu, was last seen playing in the village on Friday afternoon.
Sungai Siput District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Khaizam Ahmad Shahabudin, reported that a search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched early Saturday after a missing person report was filed at 1:20 a.m. by the Chairman of the Orang Asli Village Development and Security Committee.
The search involved local residents, police, and the K9 unit. The child’s body was discovered at 4:20 p.m., about 50 to 100 meters from the last house in the village.
Although initial observations showed no signs of a wild animal attack, an autopsy is scheduled at Sungai Siput Hospital to determine the cause of death. Prior to her disappearance, Nuraina was last seen heading to a store to buy chicken, but returned empty-handed and played at a nearby playground.
The investigation is ongoing, with the death currently classified as sudden death pending the autopsy results as stated in NST.
