By Subaashinee Kupusamy,

15 SEPTEMBER: Penang has experienced significant disruption following a severe storm that caused over 20 trees to fall across the region. The storm, which struck in recent days, led to widespread damage and traffic disruptions as uprooted trees blocked roads and affected local infrastructure.

Emergency services and local authorities have been working around the clock to clear the debris and restore normalcy. Teams are prioritizing the removal of fallen trees from major roads to ensure that traffic flow can be restored as quickly as possible.

In addition to roadblocks, the fallen trees have also damaged power lines and homes, exacerbating the impact on residents.

Authorities are conducting assessments to gauge the full extent of the damage and to determine necessary repairs. The storm has highlighted the need for ongoing maintenance of urban greenery to mitigate similar risks in the future.

In response, the local government is planning to review and strengthen its disaster preparedness strategies to better handle such emergencies.

Residents are being advised to stay vigilant and avoid areas affected by fallen trees until clearing operations are completed. Safety measures are being emphasized to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of the public.

The situation remains fluid as cleanup efforts continue, with officials urging the community to exercise patience and cooperation. The focus remains on restoring normalcy and addressing any further issues arising from the storm’s aftermath as stated in Buletin TV3.
