Owner of a Kindergarten loses RM1.6 Million due to an Investment Scam

Kuala Lumpur, June 9: An investment fraud victimised a 53-year-old female kindergarten owner, from Bukit Piatu, who lost RM1.6 million.

The victim and con artist began communicating online on April 27, according to Melaka Police Head Deputy Comm Zainol Samah.

As stated by Deputy Comm Zainol Samah, the scammer who went by the name of “Tan Sau Fung” claimed to be a resident of Japan and had been successful in convincing the victim to invest in a United States-run online shopping mall.

According to DCP Zainol, the con artist, who identified himself as a “Taiwanese businessman” promised to give 10% of the proceeds from the sale of all the products the victim obtained to a third party.

He said that the victim made 28 deposits of the money into the conman’s given bank accounts between May 7 and May 30, as stated by The Star.

When the victim visited a website, it informed her that her commission was worth roughly RM923, 000, according to DCP Zainol.

The victim filed a police report at the Ayer Keroh police station on May 31 after examining the website again and discovering it had been shut down.

According to DCP Zainol’s earlier findings, the funds were placed into six mule accounts. He said that all of the accounts were with regional banks. DCP Zainol stated that his team are pursuing the con artist and his associates.
