Pakistan Honours Malaysia’s Anwar Ibrahim with Highest Civilian Award

5 OCTOBER: Pakistan has conferred its highest civilian award, the Nishan-e-Pakistan, on Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The prestigious accolade was presented during a ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr, the official residence of Pakistan’s president in Islamabad, on Thursday, October 5. The award recognises Anwar’s outstanding contributions to strengthening bilateral ties between Malaysia and Pakistan, as well as his efforts in fostering unity among the Muslim ummah globally.

The ceremony was attended by top Pakistani officials, including President Dr. Arif Alvi, who personally bestowed the honour upon Anwar. In his acceptance speech, Anwar expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasising the importance of unity and collaboration among Muslim-majority nations.

He reiterated Malaysia’s commitment to working closely with Pakistan in areas such as trade, education, and cultural exchange, aiming to further elevate the longstanding relationship between the two countries.This is not the first time Anwar has been recognised internationally for his contributions to diplomacy and leadership.

The Nishan-e-Pakistan award is a testament to his efforts in fostering international cooperation, particularly in the Muslim world. The accolade also highlights Malaysia’s active role in regional and global issues, with Anwar at the forefront of initiatives to promote peace, stability, and development across the Muslim world as stated in The Star.
