Perak, Prime Location for Movie Makers – K.Novin, initiatives commenced
Ipoh – Long wait since 2018 for K.Novinthen to bring the magnificent sceneries in Ipoh to the visionary of movie industry. K.Novinthen, Special Advisor for Perak Exco expressed his happiness of being able to bring Ipoh to the attention of producers and directors of Kollywood.
The efforts begun from 2018 in where he shared about places in Ipoh which have extravaganza sceneries for a movie shoot. From his sharings, famous actor Silambarasan@Simbhu’s movie, Maanadu was supposed to be shoot in Perak. Unfortunately, due to pandemic, the project did not made its way to Malaysia. Then, Ponniyin Selvan 2 by well-known director, Maniratnam also was planned for some scenes but post-pandemic has unforeseen that.
Thereafter, production team for Vijay Sethupathi’s 51st movie would like to view the spots in Malaysia. K.Novinthen, took responsibility for 10 days, daily 8am to 6pm in bringing the team for a tour around Ipoh in accordance to their checklist of sceneries. Kuala Sepitang, Buntong, Taiping, Pangkor, Lumut, these places became the spot of interest. After months, we received green signal from the team, said K.Novin happily. He also added that Digital Perak, an initiative with entire lists of places, services been a great tool to accommodate the needs for cast and crew.
After the arrival of artists, “VJS in Ipoh” became a trending tagline in TikTok for over weeks in Malaysia. Perak also welcomed more tourists especially over the weekend and this eventually increased the economy of Perak State Government. Additionally, there were many job opportunities and skills trainings also been available for public. To be in detailed, there were job opportunity for approximately around 30 Rela force for daily wages, then initiatives of making students in multimedia study background to learn skills from crew experts for cinematography, videography, and many more. Local artists were also associated with the movie as crews.
K.Novin expressed gratitude to everyone who’s involved and felt that hardwork being paid off when witnessing the success of the movie shooting. ‘This is just a beginning and surely Perak will be well-known to international artists in coming future’, he said to The Hindu Press.
