Kuala Lumpur, January 2, 2024: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasised today that a more equitable and rational pay plan for government officials will be implemented as soon as possible, according to Malay mail.
Anwar’s Unity Government could not have implemented a new wage plan last year because of the nation’s financial circumstances and the large amount of inherited debt, according to the Finance Minister.
This year, it was agreed to move more quickly to put in place a more equitable and rational pay plan for government employees, as said by Anwar – Malay mail
“We could not do it last year because we inherited a (bad) financial situation with a national debt that was still at RM1.5 trillion and a fiscal deficit of 5.6 per cent,” he made this statement during the Central Database Hub (Padu) system’s debut today.
The system comprises individual and household profiles for both Malaysian citizens and permanent residents.
The government decided on July 14 to examine the civil service pay plan, taking into consideration the rising cost of living and its significance that there has not been a pay review since 2012.
Shortly after, on August 7, the Cabinet Committee on Public Service Reform convened to deliberate on the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), which is a civil service reform proposal – Malay mail
