20th September 2024: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has personally contributed assistance to 46 families affected by floods in Arau and Kangar, Perlis. The aid was delivered through the Perlis office of the Federal Development Department (ICU JPM).
While the exact amount of the Prime Minister’s personal contribution was not disclosed, Perlis ICU JPM Director Maznah Musa confirmed that the aid was distributed to 14 heads of households (KIR) at the temporary evacuation center (PPS) at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sena in Kangar. In Arau, contributions were given to 12 KIRs at PPS SK Dato Ahmad Musa, 13 KIRs at PPS SK Kubang Gajah, and seven KIRs at PPS SK Arau.
Maznah explained, “We are providing two forms of assistance. The first is a personal contribution from the Prime Minister, and the second is financial aid under the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma).”
Speaking to reporters after delivering the contributions at PPS SK Arau, Maznah highlighted that the Nadma financial aid is given to families displaced by floods. Each household that relocated to the temporary evacuation centers received RM1,000 from the Nadma fund.
The aid distribution was conducted in collaboration with Datuk Rozabil Abd Rahman, Chairman of Perlis UMNO’s Liaison Body.
This initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to assisting flood-affected communities and supporting them through difficult times. The combination of personal aid from the Prime Minister and the financial assistance from Nadma offers immediate relief to families as they navigate the recovery process, as stated in Buletin Tv3
