17 October: The police were forced to fire three warning shots before apprehending a local man suspected of being a drug dealer at a parking lot of an apartment complex yesterday evening.
According to Johor Police Chief Datuk M. Kumar, the incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. when a Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) unit spotted a suspicious car driven by the suspect. Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the driver immediately fled the scene, prompting a high-speed chase.
The pursuit eventually led the suspect into the apartment’s parking area, where the man continued to evade arrest. As the situation escalated, police had no choice but to discharge three warning shots in an effort to stop the suspect from escaping further.
The shots succeeded in halting the man, allowing officers to detain him without further incident. Datuk Kumar confirmed that the suspect is believed to be involved in drug-related activities, though further investigations are still underway to confirm the extent of his involvement.
No injuries were reported during the chase, and the police assured the public that the situation was brought under control swiftly. The authorities are currently working on gathering more information related to the case, including any possible connections to a wider drug syndicate.
Further details on the case are expected to be revealed as the investigation progresses as stated in BULETIN TV3.
