Public Universities to Support Poor Students with Deferred Fees

21st September 2024: Malaysia’s Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir, has directed public universities to admit students from low-income backgrounds and allow them to defer registration fees.
The initiative ensures financial challenges do not block access to higher education for deserving students. Additionally, universities are urged to assist in securing early financial aid through PTPTN loans.
Zambry, sharing his own humble beginnings, emphasized that financial hardship should never hinder education. Mara chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi highlighted Zambry’s journey as an example of education’s transformative power, as stated in The Star.
