Quarantine for fully vaccinated travellers entering M’sia reduced to 7 days

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16: Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today said that fully vaccinated travellers entering Malaysia will begin serving a reduced quarantine period of seven days from Monday.

He advised the public to continue to follow the rules established, including conducting RT-PCR screening tests during the quarantine and surveillance period.

He added that under the new regulation, individuals who are fully vaccinated would be quarantined for seven days, while those who did not complete should undergo a quarantine period of 10 days

“For the aim of coordinating and guaranteeing the seamless execution of the new quarantine period, the MOH has mandated that all people who are subjected to surveillance and observation orders by officers beginning from Monday shall be quarantined for seven or ten days.

“Those who are presently subject to obligatory quarantine will be issued a Surveillance and Observation Order Release based on the newly stated quarantine duration.”

“However, RT-PCR testing must be performed before the Surveillance and Observation Order is issued. Failure to obey this order is a violation of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act of 1988,” he said.

Individuals enduring obligatory quarantine of the fifth day or above, as well as those who have completed COVID-19 immunisation, will be subjected to RT-PCR testing beginning today, according to Khairy.

If the COVID-19 test findings were negative, he added they would be issued a Surveillance and Observation Order Release on Monday.
