Ramasamy Calls Out Malaysian Leaders for Silence on Bangladesh Hindu Crisis

By Subaashinee Kupusamy,

PETALING JAYA, 13 August: Penang Deputy Chief Minister II, P. Ramasamy, has expressed strong disappointment with the silence of Malaysian political leaders regarding the ongoing violence against Hindus in Bangladesh.

The Hindu minority in Bangladesh has faced severe persecution, including attacks on temples, homes, and individuals. Ramasamy criticized the lack of condemnation from prominent Malaysian figures who typically advocate for human rights.

He called on these leaders to break their silence and take a stand, urging them to show solidarity with the persecuted Hindu community in Bangladesh.Ramasamy’s criticism highlights the need for consistent advocacy for human rights, regardless of the geographical or cultural context.

He stressed that silence in the face of such atrocities undermines the credibility of leaders who claim to stand for justice and equality. Ramasamy’s comments are a call to action for Malaysian leaders to publicly condemn the violence and to support international efforts to protect the Hindu minority in Bangladesh.

He also pointed out that the violence in Bangladesh has sparked international outrage, with protests and rallies taking place in several countries, including France. Ramasamy’s appeal is part of a broader effort to draw global attention to the plight of Hindus in Bangladesh and to pressure the Bangladeshi government to take decisive action to protect its minority communities.

The situation in Bangladesh has raised significant concerns among human rights organizations, and Ramasamy’s statement is a reminder of the importance of speaking out against injustice, no matter where it occurs as stated in FMT.
