RTD Extends Operating Hours Following Pay Hike Announcement

By Loshinniy Nair S. Baskaran,

Kuala Lumpur, 18th August – The Road Transport Department (RTD) will extend operating hours by one hour at select counters in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, and Johor, following a recent salary hike announcement by the Malaysian government. This decision, effective tomorrow, aims to improve service delivery and handle the anticipated increase in public demand for RTD services.

According to RTD director-general Datuk Rospiagos Taha, the counters will now operate from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays, providing additional time for the public to complete their transactions. This extension is expected to enhance customer experience by reducing waiting times, especially during peak hours.

The salary hike, announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, is part of the government’s effort to address the rising cost of living. The pay raise applies to civil servants across various sectors, aiming to provide them with better financial security.

RTD encourages the public to take advantage of the extended hours to manage their transportation-related matters efficiently. The department also plans to monitor the effectiveness of this initiative and make further adjustments if necessary, as stated in Malaymail.
