Scammers Offer Unclaimed Luggage Online for RM16 via Fake KLIA Account

Kuala Lumpur, January 19, 2024: Every year during air travel, more than a million luggage disappear and end up as unclaimed baggage. However, who would have guessed that you might sell these unclaimed objects for a little additional cash?

A current Facebook scam involves tricking unsuspicious people into believing a fake post purporting to be from Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s (KLIA) official account –World of Buzz

In an attempt to trick prospective customers into clicking on a questionable website, the message falsely advertises the sale of unclaimed luggage for what appears to be a reasonable price of RM16.

In a remark, one user even acknowledged falling for the fraud and advised others to exercise caution.

In order to give prospective customers a false impression of validity and trustworthiness, scammer accounts even went so far as to submit fake feedback in the comment area – World of Buzz

Fortunately, a few Facebook users have seen through the scam and alerted others to the post’s falsity.

Nonetheless, a few online users could not help but remark on the scenario since they thought it was hilarious.

Several cautions have been shared, advising other people to stay away from the misleading offer and not click on any of the links that are offered.
