Kuala Lumpur, May 24: The school session will resume in January 2026, as per a decision made by the Ministry of Education (MOE).

Fadhlina Sidek, the minister of education, stated that the government have begun initiatives to regulate the academic schedule for the 2024–2025 academic year in February 2025.

She claims that in reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic, MOE has already developed a strategy to alter the academic schedule for the 2021–2022 school year.

In light of these changes, the school will officially begin on Monday, October 20, 2023, for the academic year 2023–2024, said Fadhlina Sidek.

“The MOE will examine whether creating an academic calendar for the following year is essential and suitable to guarantee that teaching and learning can carried out properly, particularly the learning period of 32 to 36 weeks needed to finish the whole school curriculum for a year”, she stated.

As mentioned by Fadhlina in the Dewan Rakyat, the MOE has also adjusted the public examination timetable to reflect the changes to the academic calendar for the schools. In light of this, MOE has started making plans to start the academic year for the 2024–2025 session in February 2025.
