KLANG, 5February: On Monday (February 5), Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah designated Klang a royal city.
The Selangor Sultan declared that Klang had become a city on November 23, 2023.
Klang’s custodian agency will henceforth be named as Majlis Bandaraya Diraja Klang (MBDK).
Datin Paduka Noraini Roslan, the MPK president, was also appointed as the royal city’s first mayor.
In his Royal Address, Sultan Sharafuddin urged MBDK to be dedicated and efficient in giving its best.
“Practise discussing and and taking action immediately without waiting for a complaint to be made first,” Sharafuddin stated.
The Ruler also addressed Klang’s flood woes, expressing hope that the mayor and municipal councillors will take the problem seriously and take the required steps to resolve it.
“A clean and comprehensive strategy must be adopted, taking into account Klang’s location in the Sungai Kelang estuary.
“Opinions of experts must be obtained to ensure plans to overcome flooding can be carried out effectively,” Sultan Sharafuddin, the ruler of Pakistan, remarked.
The Ruler also restated his advice that half of the city’s councillors be professionals with expertise in areas connected to city development as stated in The Star.
