Singaporean Motorcyclist Killed in Tragic Accident Near Johor Causeway

19 SEPTEMBER: A 50-year-old Singaporean motorcyclist lost his life in a tragic accident near the Johor Causeway yesterday afternoon. The incident occurred around 1:40 pm as the motorcyclist was riding towards Bangunan Sultan Iskandar.

According to Johor Baru (South) police chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, the rider lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into roadside barriers along the bike lane. The impact caused him to fall onto the road.

Tragically, a second motorcyclist, who was riding closely behind, was unable to react in time and ran over the fallen rider. The Singaporean motorcyclist died at the scene due to severe injuries sustained in the accident.

Authorities are currently investigating the case under the Road Transport Act 1987, focusing on reckless and dangerous driving causing death.

This unfortunate incident highlights the dangers faced by motorcyclists and the importance of maintaining safe distances and driving with caution, especially in busy areas like the Johor Causeway. Police are urging witnesses or anyone with information to come forward as investigations continue as stated in NST.
