SPM Exams Continue Smoothly in Kelantan Despite Floods

By Loshinniy Nair S.Baskaran,

2nd January 2025: The Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exams in Kelantan have proceeded as scheduled despite recent floods affecting several areas. According to the state education department, necessary measures were taken to ensure the exams ran smoothly, prioritizing student safety and exam integrity.

Although some students faced challenges due to road closures and disrupted transportation, alternative arrangements, including boats and four-wheel-drive vehicles, were provided. Local authorities and school officials worked together to ensure students could reach their exam centers on time.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek praised the efforts of teachers, parents, and volunteers for their dedication in overcoming these obstacles. She assured that students who experienced unavoidable delays would be accommodated under the Ministry’s contingency plans.

Exam centers in flood-hit areas were equipped with emergency kits, including food supplies and basic medical assistance, to address any urgent needs. Authorities have been closely monitoring the weather and flood situation, ready to take immediate action if conditions worsen.

Despite the adverse weather, the state reported no major disruptions or postponements. The ministry continues to collaborate with local disaster management agencies to ensure the exams are completed successfully. The SPM exams, a significant milestone for Malaysian students, remain a top priority, as stated in the Star.
