Actor Suriya’s upcoming film with RJ Balaji has officially been named Karuppu. The announcement was made on June 20, aligning with RJ Balaji’s birthday, along with a gripping first-look poster that features Suriya’s intense silhouette holding a weapon, hinting at a dark, action-packed narrative.
Directed by RJ Balaji and produced by Dream Warrior Pictures (S. R. Prabhu and S. R. Prakash Babu), Karuppu wrapped up its shooting earlier this year and is now in the post-production phase. The movie marks RJ Balaji’s first directorial venture with a major star like Suriya, creating high expectations among fans and film circles.
Trisha plays the female lead, reuniting with Suriya after nearly two decades. The film also features a strong supporting cast including Yogi Babu, Indrans, Swasika, Sshivada, Natty, Supreeth Reddy, and debutante Anagha Maaya Ravi.
Technically, the film boasts a fresh team, music by newcomer Sai Abhyankkar, cinematography by G.K. Vishnu (Bigil, Jawan), editing by R. Kalaivanan, and action choreography by Vikram Mor. Art direction is handled by Arun Venjaramoodu.
With a noir-inspired theme and gritty visuals, Karuppu is expected to showcase Suriya in a powerful, emotionally layered role, diverging from his recent commercial outings. The official release date is yet to be announced.
