Teacher Remanded for 7 Days to Assist Investigation of Student Sexual Assault Case

8th September 2024 – A 53-year-old male teacher has been remanded for seven days to assist in an investigation related to a sexual assault case involving a female student in Tangkak, Johor. The remand was granted by the Muar Magistrate’s Court following reports of inappropriate behavior by the teacher.


The incident was reported by the victim’s family, and the alleged assault is believed to have taken place at the school where the teacher is employed. The investigation is being conducted under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which pertains to sexual misconduct against minors.
