Teenage Girl Arrested for Stabbing Aunt in Butterworth

4th January 2025: A 14-year-old girl has been arrested for stabbing her 35-year-old aunt during a quarrel at a flat on Jalan Perai Jaya in Perai, Butterworth.
According to Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Helmi Aris, the incident occurred when the teenager, who had been staying with her aunt for the past four days due to family issues, expressed her desire to return home to live with her biological mother. The aunt refused, leading to an argument during which the girl allegedly stabbed her aunt in the left side of the abdomen with a knife.
The victim was taken to Seberang Jaya Hospital, where she is receiving treatment for her injuries. The teenager, who had dropped out of school, has been detained to assist in investigations under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using a weapon. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, as stated in The Star.
