The Joker may still be dominating the box office, but it’s not the one from Joker: Folie à Deux, starring Joaquin Phoenix. Instead, it’s the slasher horror film Terrifier 3 that’s stealing the spotlight. According to a report from The Wrap, Joker: Folie à Deux has experienced a sharp drop in ticket sales after opening to largely negative audience reviews. The musical sequel, directed by Todd Phillips, saw a staggering 82% decline in its second weekend.

Joker: Folie à Deux was one of the most highly anticipated films of the year, but it has been a significant letdown at both the US and global box offices. Despite collecting $37.8 million during its opening weekend, the film faced a steep drop by its second week. It has been trending all over social media, but for the wrong reasons. Many fans expressed disappointment with the film, which received a shockingly low D rating from CinemaScore due to negative word-of-mouth. In addition to Joaquin Phoenix, the sequel features an ensemble cast including Lady Gaga, Brendan Gleeson, and Catherine Keener.

Meanwhile, Terrifier 3—which premiered in 2,514 locations—has taken off without the benefit of heavy promotions. The film earned an impressive $8.1 million on its opening day, including $2.5 million from Thursday previews. David Howard Thornton stars as Art the Clown, who wreaks havoc on the residents of Miles County during Christmas Eve, according to the film’s official synopsis. The cast also includes Lauren LaVera, Elliott Fulham, and Luciana Vandette.

Following Terrifier 3, the next spot at the box office is held by The Wild Robot, an animated film from DreamWorks Animation and Universal, based on Peter Brown’s 2016 novel. Now in its third weekend, The Wild Robot is nearing a $100 million domestic run, continuing its successful streak.
