Kuala Lumpur, April 23: The Aidilfitri Open House’s diversity of ethnicity is evidence that the state’s citizens are becoming more united. For the residents of Kampung Ribu, it is still customary to burn countless “pelita,” or oil lamps, during the 27th night of Ramadan.
According to Datuk Rais Yasin, state senior executive councilor for housing, local government, drainage, climate change, and disaster prevention, it unknowingly embodies the idea of Madani Malaysia at the state level.
“The Aidilfitri Open House is in fact an attempt at encouraging harmony among races, as well as a means of bringing the beliefs of Madani Malaysia to the state level”. As a result, he predicted that the Aidilfitri open houses of other executive council members or state assemblymen will be more vibrant than usual in a multicultural setting.
More than 10,000 guests, mostly those from the Paya Rumput state constituency, attended the celebration, which commenced at 10 a.m. The attendees were from a variety of socioeconomic groups and ethnicities. – News Straits Times
