PETALING JAYA, JUNE 08: According to Singapore’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, Vanu Gopala Menon, stand-up comedian Jocelyn Chia is no longer a Singaporean.

Menon expressed his disgust at Chia’s “gratuitously offensive comments” in a statement released on Thursday (June 8) in response to her performance.

“The Singapore Government does not condone words or actions that cause harm or hurt to others, and Chia, who is no longer a Singaporean, does not in any way reflect our views,” declared Menon.

He went on to say, “I sincerely regret to all Malaysians for her insensitive statements.

This comes after Chia made reference to MH370’s disappearance in her stand-up comedy routine.

Chia then makes a crass joke about Malaysia trying to re-establish connections with Singapore while making reference to the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.

The 239 people on board as well as the crew’s fate are still unknown.
