Tirupati Ladoo Controversy Sparks National Debate
By Subaashinee Kupusamy,
22 SEPTEMBER: The sacred Tirupati Ladoo, a revered prasadam from the Tirumala Tirupati temple, recently found itself at the center of a controversy.
Allegations surfaced that animal fats, including beef tallow and fish oil, were detected in the ghee used to make the ladoos. This claim has caused public outrage and led to a demand for investigations by both temple authorities and the central government.
With a tradition of over 300 years, these ladoos hold deep religious significance for millions of devotees. The report suggesting “foreign fat” involvement has shaken many, with political parties calling for strict accountability.
However, if these claims are proven false, the backlash against those responsible could be severe.Despite the controversy, the Tirupati temple’s prasadam, known for its long-standing recipe and production of nearly 300,000 ladoos daily, remains a symbol of faith and devotion across India as stated in Astro Ulagam.
