Two Siblings Die After Motorcycle Accident While Visiting Father’s Grave

24th September 2024: A tragic accident occurred when a teenage boy and his five-year-old younger sister died after their motorcycle crashed into a roro garbage bin on the Lebuh Sungai Udang-Paya Rumput-Ayer Keroh (SPA) road yesterday evening.
The incident happened around 6:15 p.m. when the siblings were on their way to visit their father’s grave at Bertam Hulu before planning to have dinner with their family.
Melaka Tengah District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, reported that the victims, Muhammad Amirul Hazlin, 18, and his younger sister, Nur Afiqah Sofea Hazlin, 5, passed away while receiving treatment in the red zone at Melaka Hospital.
According to initial reports, Muhammad Amirul was riding a Demak DV110 motorcycle with his sister as the pillion rider. The siblings were traveling from Ayer Keroh towards Sungai Udang when the accident occurred.
The crash resulted in severe injuries to both siblings, leading to their deaths despite medical efforts to save them. This tragic accident has left their family in deep grief, especially as the siblings were on their way to visit their late father’s grave.
The police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident. Early reports suggest that the motorcycle collided with a roro garbage bin, but further details are being gathered. The incident serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers on the road, and authorities urge all motorists to exercise caution when traveling, especially on highways like the SPA.
