United Malaysian Hindu Voice Participates in the 15th GOPIO International Convention
19th September 2024 – The United Malaysian Hindu Voice (UMHV), along with the United Malaysian Hindu Youth Fellowship (UMHYF), United Malaysian Hindu Students League (UMHSL), and Special Action Force (SAF), took part in the 15th Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) International Convention.
This major international event serves as an important platform for people of Indian descent, bringing together leaders, professionals, and representatives from different countries to talk about global issues and work together on projects that help their communities.
When the delegates from around the world arrived, it kicked off lively discussions at the GOPIO International Forum. This forum allowed people to exchange ideas and share best practices, focusing on topics like relationships within the diaspora, social development, economic growth, and preserving cultural heritage.
Throughout the convention, participants discussed many issues. These included the challenges Indian communities face around the world and how the diaspora can come together to create positive change. Many speakers stressed the importance of building stronger connections between the diaspora and their home countries, especially in promoting development and keeping cultural traditions alive.
A key theme of the convention was empowering young people within the diaspora. Delegates talked about the need to create more opportunities for the younger generation to take on leadership roles and get involved in community service. The forum also highlighted the importance of giving young people better access to education and resources to help them succeed and make meaningful contributions to their communities.
In addition to discussions about socio-economic development and education, the event also celebrated the successes of Indian diaspora members who have made big contributions in different fields. These achievements, whether in business, social work, or promoting culture, were recognized during the convention and served as an inspiration to others in the community.
The GOPIO International Convention encouraged a spirit of unity and collective action among its participants. The discussions emphasized that, even though members of the Indian diaspora are spread across the globe, they share common goals and dreams. By working together, they can raise their voices on the global stage and tackle shared challenges like discrimination, inequality, and underrepresentation.
As the convention came to a close, delegates left with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to strengthening the global Indian diaspora network. The 15th GOPIO International Convention proved to be an important platform for building connections, exchanging ideas, and supporting efforts that benefit Indian communities worldwide.
UMHV is proud to have taken part in this significant event and sincerely thanks GOPIO for the opportunity to participate and contribute to these valuable discussions.
