University Students Affected by Floods Urged to Notify Their Institutions

By Loshinniy Nair S. Baskaran,

25th September 2024– Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, has advised university students impacted by floods to inform their respective institutions before returning to campus. This includes new students who are set to begin their studies, allowing the necessary assistance to be provided.

Speaking after attending the 12th CIDOS Inspiring Learning Awards (eDOLA) ceremony, Zambry emphasized the importance of communication with university management to ensure support for affected students. He added that, so far, only students involved in the Mahkota state by-election have been granted an extension for registration at public universities, with a deadline of September 29.

While answering questions on the flexibility of campus registration dates for flood-affected students, Zambry clarified that the universities’ original registration deadlines remain in place for other students.

The eDOLA event, held over two days, aims to integrate artificial intelligence (AI)-based educational technology into teaching and learning processes at polytechnics and community colleges. During the event, Zambry also launched the ‘POLYCC Artificial Intelligence Reform Agenda,’ focusing on enhancing education digitization in line with emerging technologies to be utilized across community colleges and polytechnics.

This initiative underscores the Ministry’s commitment to adapting education to modern technological advancements and ensuring institutions are equipped to handle the evolving digital landscape, as stated in Buletin TV3.
