19th February: Sometimes a mother’s love isn’t about kindness – it’s about doing what’s right. In a horrific crime from Prakasam district, a 57-year-old woman, K Lakshmi Devi, is alleged to have murdered her son, 35-year-old K Shyam Prasad, due to his repeated indecent behavior and misconduct. The police reported the murder took place on February 13, and Devi was assisted by relatives in committing the horrific act.
Prakasam Superintendent of Police A R Damodar disclosed that Prasad’s conduct had turned out to be intolerable for his mother, prompting her to take the extreme measure. “Unable to endure her son’s indecent and perverted actions, she killed him,” Damodar declared. He also added that Prasad, by occupation a cleaner and unmarried, had also tried to sexually assault his maternal aunts at Hyderabad and Narasaraopeta, and indulged in indecent behavior with other relatives at Bengaluru and Khammam.
The body of the victim was chopped into five pieces after murder with an axe or another sharp weapon. The pieces were placed in three sacks and thrown into the Nakalagandi canal in Cumbum village.
The perpetrators, including Devi and the accomplices, are on the run. The police have issued a manhunt after they arrested them under the relevant sections of the law, including BNS Sections 103(1) and 238. The case is one involving egregious acts in response to alleged sexual misconduct, raising complex questions about justice and family duty.
Everyone must be equal before the law.
