Woman Remanded for Five Days Over Child Abuse Investigation
5 September: A woman suspected of abusing her daughter in Kuala Selangor has been remanded for five days to assist in the ongoing investigation.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Siti Hajar Ali and is effective from today until September 9.
The 32-year-old suspect arrived at the Sungai Besar Magistrate’s Court at 8:40 a.m. dressed in a lock-up uniform and handcuffed.
The remand period allows the police to conduct a thorough investigation under Section 31 (1) of the Child Act 2001, which deals with offences related to child abuse, neglect, and mistreatment.
The case came to light when authorities were alerted to possible mistreatment of the woman’s daughter, prompting swift action by law enforcement to ensure the child’s safety and well-being.
