In just ten days following its US debut and three days following its release in Indian theatres, Alien: Romulus has amassed over $200 million in box office revenue worldwide.
It has officially made more money than James Cameron’s Aliens (1986) and Ridley Scott’s Alien (1979) with $225 million worldwide.
Fede Álvarez is the director of Alien: Romulus, which is produced by Walter Hill of Brandywine Productions, Ridley Scott, and Michael A. Pruss under their Scott Free Productions banner. Alvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon, Brent O’Connor, and Tom Moran serve as executive producers.
The movie, which takes place in between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), follows a group of adolescent space colonists as they scavenge the deep corners of a derelict space station and encounter the most horrific living form in the cosmos. Key characters in the movie are played by Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu.
When it was released on August 23, both critics and viewers gave the movie varying degrees of praise. “Alien Romulus neither offers anything new nor has anything to say,” stated our CE evaluation of the movie. It is still a powerful alien-slasher movie, though. You still get a rush as the xenomorph pursues the group.”
Benjamin Wallfisch composed the music, Naaman Marshall handled production design, Jake Roberts handled editing, and Galo Olivares handled cinematography.
