The highly anticipated trailer for Amaran, starring Sivakarthikeyan, was unveiled on Wednesday. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the film is based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan, a decorated officer of the Indian Army. Sivakarthikeyan plays the lead role, supported by a cast that includes Sai Pallavi, Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose, and others.
Inspired by the book India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military, the trailer offers glimpses into both the professional and personal life of Major Mukund. It highlights his military career with intense combat sequences and portrays his family life, including a touching romance and a concerned mother. One of the trailer’s powerful moments is when Mukund faces a terrorist and declares, “I am the face of the Indian Army.”
Major Mukund Varadarajan, an officer in the Rajput Regiment, was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for his bravery during a counterterrorism operation while serving with the 44th Rashtriya Rifles in Jammu and Kashmir.
The film’s technical crew includes music composer GV Prakash Kumar, cinematographer CH Sai, editor Kalaivanan, and stunt director Stefan Richter. Produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International in collaboration with Sony Pictures International Productions, Amaran is expected to be a stirring tribute to one of India’s military heroes.
