KUALA LUMPUR 6TH AUGUST : In accordance with the government’s vision of a united and diverse Malaysia, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urged Malaysians to uphold the ideals that the country’s first prime minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, championed as stated in Free Malaysia Today.
“In fact, this (obligation) is what was mentioned by the late Tunku Abdul Rahman in the proclamation of our independence 67 years ago, that our country must remain independent and sovereign and all its people peaceful, prosperous and safe forever.” This was said by Anwar in his introductory remarks at Bukit Jalil Commemoration of Statesman Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj. According to him, it is the duty of every Malaysian citizen to give significance to the independence and freedom that the nation has enjoyed for the previous 67 years.
This is in step with the government’s goal of establishing a Madani society in which people always appreciate one another, value one another’s variety, and work together to make sure that everyone can live in harmony and peace.
The Father of Malaysia’s Independence was characterized by Anwar as a visionary and forward-thinking leader who exuded confidence and strong commitment as stated in The Star
