After being teased in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, Carol Danvers made her big-screen debut in the 2019 prequel Captain Marvel. Since then, the groundwork has been laid for her to take on a more prominent role in Earth’s mightiest heroes’ future endeavors.

Even with the complexity of multiverse storylines, it’s hard to imagine anyone other than Brie Larson portraying Captain Marvel. Larson recently reprised her role in The Marvels, where she teamed up with Monica Rambeau (played by Teyonah Parris) and rising star Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel (played by Iman Vellani).

The official synopsis of The Marvels reads, “Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the oppressive Kree and sought revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. However, unforeseen consequences have left her grappling with the responsibility of a destabilized universe.”

Despite the anticipation, The Marvels didn’t perform as well as expected at the global box office, earning approximately $205 million from its estimated $280 million budget, leading to significant financial losses. This has left fans wondering what lies ahead for Carol Danvers in the MCU.

However, according to a report from movieweb.com and industry insider Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus, Captain Marvel could soon take on a leadership role within the Avengers. It’s rumored that she might become a co-leader of the Avengers, sharing this prestigious position with another fan-favorite Marvel character.

Additionally, it’s speculated that Captain Marvel may play a key role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, which is expected to hit theaters on May 1, 2026. There are also whispers that she could make an appearance in Spider-Man 4, starring Tom Holland, though details about the release of that film remain under wraps.

Of course, these are all rumors for now, and fans should take them with a grain of salt until official announcements are made. Once we get confirmation, we’ll be sure to keep you updated with all the latest developments.
