Demanding the removal of the elephant theme from TVK’s flag led by Actor Vijay

By Pavethran Batmanathen

According to reports, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) intends to ask that the Tamizhlaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), which was formally presented today, have its flag’s theme of the two dueling tuskers removed.

According to BSP officials, using the elephant symbol, which is a key aspect of the national party’s flag, was “illegal” in accordance with election laws. The white outline of an elephant set on a royal blue background is the symbol of the BSP

According to a Maalai Malar article, the party has therefore decided to demand that the elephant theme be removed off TVK’s flag immediately. According to BSP officials, if the demand was not fulfilled, a complaint would be made and a case would be started with the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The flag and anthem of his party were presented by actor-turned-politician Vijay on Thursday at the TVK headquarters in Panaiyur. The theme of the TVK’s two-colored flag, which is yellow in the center and maroon on top and bottom, features two battling tuskers on either side of the Vaagai ‘Malar’ (flower). Albizia lebbeck is another name for the flower, while the Tamil word “vaagai” means “victory.”

It should be mentioned that Vijay’s party has not yet received approval from the ECI to register as a political party and use the abbreviation “TVK.”
