Kuala Lumpur, Aug 12: Voting in that stream had to be suspended because a vote box in a polling place in Paya Terubong was discovered to be open. Ooi Ghee Oon, a Perikatan Nasional candidate, found the open vote box in SK Seri Relau with a total of 177 ballots already in it.
According to Sin Chew Daily, Ooi reportedly stated he would not accept any of the ballots in that box as legitimate casts and requested the Election Commission to halt voting for that stream, which was scheduled to contain 719 voters.
The seal, it is believed, was left on the table close to the voting machine. Officials from the Election Commission are looking into it, but it is not yet known if the 177 ballots will be thrown out.
