INDIA LIFTS THOMAS CUP 2022

Kuala Lumpur, May 15 : India won Thomas Cup 2022, creating history with an extraordinary win of 3-0 at the final match in Bangkok, Thailand today. Team India defeated the 14-time champion, Indonesia, known to be expertise in badminton. India added into the list as the sixth country winning Thomas Cup to date.

The game started with Lakshya Sen ranked world no-9 against Antoni Sinisuka Ginting ranked world no-4 with points 8-21,21-17,21-16. Leading the scoreboard with 1-0, there begun first doubles with Satwiksairaj Rankireddy & Chirag Shetty against Mohammad Ahsan & Kevin Sanjay’s Sukamuljo with points 18-21,21-18,24-22. Upon heading 2-0, victory was more favourable on court of India thereafter the entry of Srikanth Kidambi took the win over Jonathan Christine with golden victory points 21-15,23-21.

“The match was extraordinary, in first match, India had a soft start and struggles seen in Lakshya Sen especially with the fast match of Antoni. Then, the following matches were extraordinary with a great comeback of Lakshya Sen”, said Yogeswari,44, a fan of badminton from Ipoh. “Doubles match can be said as fire-strokes by both teams, every point taken was with extreme hardwork and Kidambi took over for the victory decision with a cool game, even he had few flaws losing points continuously in second match but a fabulous come back gave the golden moments”, she added.

Golden points with fabulous efforts for the historic moment upon lifting the Thomas Cup 2022 is a remarkable event for India and celebration is a must for this new record. Final match of Thomas Cup 2022 is a treat for all badminton fans.
