India Reintroduces Visa Fees for Malaysian Travelers Starting July 1

By Usha Muthusamy

KUALA LUMPUR, 5 July 2025: Malaysian citizens traveling to India are now subject to visa fees, as the free visa facility for Malaysians officially ceased on July 1. This policy adjustment means all Malaysian nationals intending to visit India must now apply for and obtain a visa, incurring the associated charges.

The reintroduction of visa fees marks a change from the previous arrangement that allowed Malaysians visa-free entry or waived fees for certain categories. Travelers are advised to check the official guidelines and requirements set forth by the Indian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur or their designated visa application centers.

Prospective visitors are strongly encouraged to apply for their visas well in advance of their intended travel dates to avoid any disruptions to their plans. Details regarding visa categories, required documentation, application procedures, and fee structures will be available through official Indian government channels and their diplomatic missions in Malaysia. This change affects all forms of travel, including tourism, business, and transit, for Malaysian passport holders.
