International Bindi/Tilak Day: Celebrating the ancient tradition

By Sharunya Raja

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12: October 15 is being observed as the International Bindi Day by Hinduism Worldwide INC with the collaboration with the Global Hindu Federation and Dhri.

Bindi is a mark on a woman’s forehead that means “drop” in Sanskrit.

Tilak is the name given to this for males.

Monotheists dismiss this as a religious symbol, yet it has enormous importance and value for humanity.

The International Bindi Day will be observed to promote inclusivity, mutual tolerance, and to showcase humanity’s innate wisdom in looking beyond religious and community divisions.

The inauguration of this oneness project will take place on Navaratri, the nine-day festival devoted to the diving feminine energy.
