After 15 years of marriage, Jayam Ravi, who gained renown with Ponniyin Selvan, revealed on Monday that he and wife Aarti are divorcing. He revealed the news on X, the former name for Twitter, stating that it was for “personal reasons.” Two notes, one in Tamil and one in English, were shared by Jayam Ravi. “Life is a journey filled with various chapters, each presenting its own opportunities and challenges,” he said at the beginning of his note.
I have always tried to be as open and truthful with my fans and the media as I can be, as so many of you have supported and loved me throughout my journey both on and off screen. I have to give you all a very personal update, and I do it with heavy heart.”
Jayam Ravi stated that he did not make the decision hastily. “After much thought, reflection, and discussion, I have decided to move forward with the dissolution of marriage with Aarti,” he wrote. This was not a snap choice; rather, it was done for personal reasons that, in my opinion, are best for all parties concerned.”
Jayam Ravi wrote, “In light of this, I hereby kindly request all of you to respect our privacy as well as that of our family members during this difficult time and appeal to all of you to refrain from making any assumptions, rumors or allegations in this regard and let the matter remain private.” Ravi asked his fans to respect his privacy and not to speculate about his marriage.
His final comments on the note were, “My priority has always remained the same to continue bringing joy and entertainment through my films to my dearest audience.”
