KUALA LUMPUR, 12 August: The headless body discovered in Alor Gajah, Melaka, in December has been confirmed as that of 33-year-old teacher Istiqomah Ahmad Rozi, ending an eight-month investigation. The identification came after a DNA test matched the body with Istiqomah’s relatives, who reported her missing on December 27, 2023.

Alor Gajah district police chief Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah revealed that a joint investigation by the Criminal Investigation Departments (CID) of Melaka and Johor led to the arrest of two suspects—a 36-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman—in Chemor, Perak. Further investigation of the couple has uncovered additional body parts, including finger bones and pieces of the head, located approximately five to six kilometers from the initial discovery site.

Ashari also noted that Istiqomah’s three children are believed to have known the suspects. The couple is currently in remand, with an extension requested for continued questioning. The case is being pursued under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. The public is encouraged to provide any information to the Alor Gajah District Police Headquarters at 06-5562222.

Istiqomah, a teacher at a school in Kota Masai, Pasir Gudang, was last seen on December 26, leaving her workplace. Her car was later found abandoned outside a supermarket near her home, with surveillance footage capturing an unidentified man leaving the vehicle as stated in the MalayMail.
