Navaratri 2022
By Agathes Kuma
Navratri implies “nine nights”. Since the day following the new moon day, or Amavasya, these nine nights are numbered. The feminine portion of the moon phases is the first nine days. For Devi, who stands for the feminine aspect of the Divine, it’s a special occasion. Navami is the name of the ninth day. This year, the highly anticipated Navratri festival starts on September 26, 2022.
The period of time between the full moon and the next full moon is neutral. The remaining 18 days are predominantly masculine in character. The month’s feminine stage is all regarding Devi. For this reason, Devi is the focus of all worship prior to Navami, according to tradition. It’s essential to consciously incorporate the feminine into the family, culture, and daily routines. In order to ensure that individuals go through this correctly, the Indian culture developed a comprehensive set of procedures, rituals, and other tools. They advised you to fast about these nine days because they thought you might not be aware that it was Navaratri. When you are eating, you tend to forget what day it is, whereas when you are fasting, you are quite aware of the day. Individuals would be extremely aware by the time the ninth day rolls around. You should fast in order to increase your level of consciousness and to purify your body to some extent.
Worshipping feminine deities like Mother Earth, Durga, or Kali is common among those who strive for strength or power. People who worship Lakshmi or the sun are those who strive for material success, passion, or gifts. Worshippers of Saraswati or the moon are those who seek knowledge, annihilation, or transcendence of the bounds of the mortal body. These fundamental characteristics are used to categorise the nine Navratri days. Durga is honoured for the first three days, Lakshmi for the following three, and Saraswati for the final three. Vijayadashami, the tenth day, represents the victory over all three of these facets of life.
Navratri’s first three days are known as Tamas, during which the goddess is ferocious like Durga and Kali. Tamas is the Earth’s nature, and she is the one who bears children. You must continuously be remembered of the physical limitations of your body. When Rajas appears, you want to take action. Rajas occurs over the first three days of Navaratri. The essence of rajas is such that once you begin doing things, as long as things go well, it’s good as long as they do. Rajas is going to be extremely bad when things are tough.
Navaratri’s final three days are referred to as sattva. You refine your physical, psychological, emotional, and energy bodies as you transition from a tamasic nature to a sattva nature. Individuals cannot miss the origin of creation, that exists within you, if you clarify this to the point where it is extremely clear. lastly, Ayudha Pooja or Mahanavami, the ninth day of Navratri.
