RON97 and Diesel Prices to Drop by 2 Sen in Peninsular Malaysia
By Loshinniy Nair S. Baskaran
Starting September 5, 2024, the retail prices of RON97 petrol and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will be reduced by 2 sen, to RM3.40 and RM3.16 per litre, respectively. This adjustment, valid until September 11, reflects the recent decline in global crude oil prices. The Ministry of Finance (MOF) emphasized that the government will continue to monitor market developments and adjust fuel prices accordingly to ensure stability.
Despite these reductions, the price of RON95 petrol will remain unchanged at RM2.05 per litre, as will the price of diesel in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan, which remains at RM2.15 per litre. These prices are set based on the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), reviewed weekly.
MOF reassured the public that the government is committed to safeguarding the well-being of the people by responding to fluctuations in global crude oil prices, ensuring that appropriate measures are in place. This price adjustment is part of ongoing efforts to balance market conditions with the public’s welfare, as stated in Malaymail.
