“Saripodhaa Sanivaaram” Review: A Fun-Filled Saturday Adventure”

While Saripodhaa Sanivaaram might seem like your typical action-packed thriller, it’s got a lot more going on than just car chases and fistfights. Director Vivek Athreya has managed to blend intense action sequences with a deeper look at the characters and their motivations.
One of the standout scenes is a pub brawl that’s not just about the punches but also about the emotions behind them. It’s a moment that really sticks with you. Athreya’s style is visually impressive, with some really cool shots and lighting that add to the excitement.
But it’s not all about the action. The film also explores themes of anger, revenge, and family. There are some really touching moments that balance out the more intense parts. The characters are complex and well-developed, making it easy to connect with them.

The first half of the film serves as a masterful introduction to this universe, building anticipation for the inevitable clash between Surya and Dayanand, two characters driven by their anger and desire for justice. While the film’s climax is thrilling and satisfying, the transformation of the Sokulapalem people following the arrival of the vigilante feels somewhat rushed and disjointed. Athreya attempts to pack too much into the final 40 minutes, resulting in a less cohesive narrative.
One of the film’s strengths lies in its clever storytelling. Athreya deliberately conceals information from the audience, allowing for satisfying revelations that never feel forced or manipulative. The opening scene featuring CI Dayanand (SJ Suryah) is a standout moment, showcasing Athreya’s writing skills and Suryah’s exceptional performance. Dayanand’s interrogation of a kidnapped man leads to a hilarious and poignant revelation about his own past, demonstrating his complexity and depth.
Saripodhaa Sanivaaram solidifies Vivek Athreya’s reputation as one of the most exciting and innovative filmmakers in contemporary Telugu cinema. His ability to reinvent the traditional Telugu action film is evident in this ambitious and thought-provoking work.
