BALI, 01 December 2025: Students of SJKT Tun Sambanthan brought pride to Malaysia by clinching two Gold Medals at ISIF 2025, the international science and invention fair held recently in Bali, Indonesia.
Young Innovators Shine on Global Stage
The first winning team, known as the Eco Fridge Team, developed an eco-friendly cooling system that impressed judges with its innovative design and potential for sustainable impact. The team members were named as Lakshana Devendran, Anshika Shashi Kumar and Visnavee Sm Avicnesvaran.
The second team presented a smart safety solution: an IoT-based Gas Leak Detector, conceived to identify hazardous gas leaks in homes and industries. Its members, Dakshmelan Kumarreshaan, Saswin Goby, Kaaviya Srivaani Prakash and Vaiysnavaathithan, were recognised for combining technological insight with social-safety awareness.
Mentors and School Community Applauded
In its coverage, the publication acknowledged the pivotal role of Teacher Lila, who guided and encouraged both teams throughout their project development. The article also thanked school management and supportive parents for backing the students.
SJKT Tun Sambanthan headmaster and the wider Tamil-school community hailed the achievement as a testament to the high standard of science education and the school’s commitment to nurturing creativity and innovation among students.
Significance for Malaysian Tamil Schools
This success adds to a growing trend of outstanding performance from Tamil-medium schools in national and international science competitions. Experts say such honours can help shift perceptions and highlight the value of STEM education in vernacular schools, inspiring more students to branch beyond academics into research and innovation.
For SJKT Tun Sambanthan, the ISIF results will likely boost morale, encourage more project-based learning, and amplify aspirations among younger students, students who now see that innovation on a global scale is within reach.
What ISIF Offers Young Scientists
The International Science and Invention Fair (ISIF) brings together student inventors, young researchers and innovators from numerous countries. It challenges participants to identify real-world problems and propose creative, practical and often low-cost solutions, emphasising ingenuity, sustainability, and social impact.
The success of SJKT Tun Sambanthan at ISIF 2025 underscores the competitive spirit, dedication, and ambition of these young minds, and raises hopes for even greater achievements in the future.
