KUALA LUMPUR, 19 August 2025: G. Kishendran, a student at Politeknik Merlimau Melaka (PMM), has achieved a perfect 4.00 Himpunan Purata Nilai Mata (HPNM), equivalent to a CGPA, for six consecutive semesters, culminating in his Diploma in Accounting. His remarkable academic performance was recognized at the 23rd convocation ceremony in Jasin, Melaka, where he received both the Director’s Award and the Academic Excellence award.
Kishendran, 23, from Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur, is the third of six children. His journey to academic success was marked by immense challenges, including financial difficulties and the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. His resolve was rooted in the sacrifices of his parents, a truck driver and a catering vendor. Despite the hardships, he maintained a strict schedule, waking up at 4:00 AM daily to stay ahead in his studies and extracurricular activities.

His dedication paid off, as he not only maintained a flawless GPA but also received numerous awards at the convocation. For Kishendran, the most significant achievement was fulfilling his lifelong dream of having his parents join him on stage to celebrate his success. This moment symbolized his perseverance and profound gratitude. Additionally, he received an overall Merit KITA score of 88.75% from Malaysia Polytechnics’ comprehensive evaluation system.
Kishendran’s success stands as a powerful testament to the fact that academic excellence can be achieved despite hardship with discipline and strong support. His journey serves as an inspiration for future TVET students aspiring to overcome obstacles to achieve their goals. He plans to pursue a degree in accounting at either Universiti Malaya (UM) or Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) while continuing to work in the accounting sector.
