16 SEPTEMBER: A massive fire broke out in Kampung Saguon, Tongod, Sabah, on Sunday, leaving more than 280 residents homeless as 44 houses were reduced to ashes.
The fire, which ignited around 3:30 pm, spread rapidly due to the wooden structure of the houses. Thankfully, no casualties were reported, but the destruction has severely impacted the local community.
The displaced residents are currently seeking refuge in temporary shelters, with local authorities and aid agencies stepping in to provide assistance. Essential supplies, including food, water, and clothing, are being distributed to support the affected families. Despite the devastation, the community has rallied together, with neighbors and volunteers offering help in various capacities.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, which remains unknown.
