UMHV Continues Annual Tradition of Spreading Joy with Achayapatra, Cheers & Deepavali Open House Projects
By Loshinniy Nair S. Baskaran,
15th October: As Deepavali approaches, United Malaysian Hindu Voice (UMHV) continues its yearly tradition of organizing three meaningful initiatives: Achayapatra, Children at Home: Everyone’s Responsibility (CHEERS) and Deepavali Open House. These projects aim to spread joy and support those in need during the festival.
Each year, the Achayapatra project provides essential dry grocery items to needy families, enabling them to celebrate Deepavali with their loved ones. By supplying these basic necessities, UMHV ensures that families can enjoy the festival in comfort and peace.
The CHEERS project, also an annual effort, brings happiness to children in homes across selected states. UMHV volunteers visit these homes, offering new clothes, spending time with the children, and celebrating Deepavali together. This initiative creates lasting memories and ensures that the children experience the joy of the festive season.
In addition to these efforts, UMHV organises a Deepavali Open House every year, in where children from these homes are invited to participate in the celebration. This open house strengthens community ties while giving the children a memorable and joyful Deepavali experience.
The success of these yearly initiatives relies on the continuous support from the community.

Every act of kindness helps make Deepavali brighter for those in need.
As Mahatma Gandhi once said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Let’s celebrate by sharing joy and light with those who need it most on this Deepavali.
